- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup white wine, or chicken broth
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil

- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 pieces lemon wedges, for serving
Five Minutes to Fancy
I am a firm believer that garlic butter shrimp is the fastest path to an impressive dinner. It takes maybe 5 minutes of actual cooking, uses one pan, and tastes like something from a seaside restaurant. This is my emergency dinner party recipe.
The Sizzle That Stops the Room
Pat your shrimp completely dry -- this is crucial for getting that gorgeous sear instead of a sad steam. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Melt butter with a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 90 seconds per side until pink and slightly charred. Remove the shrimp, then toss in the minced garlic and cook for just 30 seconds until fragrant. Add a splash of white wine, squeeze in the lemon juice, and let it bubble for a minute.
The Grand Finale
Return the shrimp to the pan, toss in the sauce, and shower with fresh parsley. Serve over pasta, with crusty bread for dipping, or straight from the pan -- I will not judge.
Tina's Tips
- Dry your shrimp thoroughly -- wet shrimp steam instead of sear, and you lose that beautiful caramelization
- Don't move them -- let the shrimp sit untouched for 90 seconds to build a proper crust
- Add garlic after the shrimp -- garlic burns in seconds and turns bitter if it goes in too early
- Use jumbo shrimp (21-25 count) for the meatiest, most satisfying bite
- Save that pan sauce -- it is basically liquid gold and deserves every last drop of bread
