Crispy Halloumi Fries
Golden, squeaky, and totally irresistible. Halloumi fries are the snack that disappears in seconds. Crispy outside, gooey inside, drizzled with honey and za'atar.

Ingredients
- 500 g halloumi, cut into fry shapes
- 50 g flour, seasoned
- 2 tbsp honey, for drizzling
- 1 tbsp za'atar
- 1 whole lemon, for squeezing
The Snack That Disappears
I've learned to make double because a single batch has never — not once — made it past the "standing around the kitchen" stage. They're gone before they even hit a plate.
How to Make It
Cut the halloumi into thick fry shapes. Toss lightly in seasoned flour — this helps them crisp up.
Pan-fry in a little olive oil over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side until deeply golden.
Pile onto a plate, drizzle with honey, sprinkle with za'atar, and squeeze over fresh lemon. Eat immediately while they're hot and squeaky.
Tina's Tips
- Hot and fresh is key — halloumi gets tough as it cools
- The honey + za'atar combo is absolutely essential. Don't skip it.
- Pat the halloumi dry before flouring for crispier results
- Serve with a yogurt dip mixed with mint and cucumber
